Rep. Michael Waltz: We Need to Incentivize and Encourage More Women to Pursue Careers in STEM

“I think incentivizing women to have interests and pursue careers in STEM is critical to fully utilizing our talent base and competing long-term,” Waltz said. “And in fact, its not just about competitiveness, its not just a domestic issue, its an international issue ¬– it’s a national security issue in my view. In my background as Green Beret, and operating all over the world, the bottom line is, where women thrive in business, in civil society, in politics, extremism doesn’t.”
Yesterday, Representative Michael Waltz (FL-R), a member of the Committee on Science Space and Technology, participated in a hearing titled “Maintaining U.S. Leadership in Science and Technology.” Waltz asked witnesses about why more women aren't working in STEM fields and how Congress can play a role in helping increase the number of women in STEM.
