Waltz: House Democrats are Using Federal Workers’ Paychecks as Political Pawns

“Twice now I’ve been proud to support measures that would get our federal workers the paychecks they have earned while we continue negotiating to open the government,” Waltz said. “Both times, my Democratic colleagues have overwhelmingly sunk the proposals. The way they are using federal workers' paychecks as political pawns in their obstructionism is unacceptable. We were sent to Washington to get things done, not continue the status quo. I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to come to the table so we can open the government, secure our border, and get hard-working federal employees their paychecks.”
Earlier today, Congressman Michael Waltz (FL-R), whose district includes Flagler and Volusia counties as well as parts of Lake and St. Johns counties, voted for a measure that would ensure federal workers receive their paychecks through the duration of the government shutdown.
Every House Republican voted in favor while 215 House Democrats voted against it. View the Roll Call vote here.

On Fox News Channel last week, Waltz called on Congress to stay in Washington until a deal to reopen the government is reached. Waltz is also forgoing his congressional salary until the shutdown is resolved. Earlier today, he co-sponsored bipartisan, bicameral Pay Our Coast Guard Parity Act to pay U.S. Coast Guard personnel who have not been receiving pay checks.
