On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) joined Fox and Friends to discuss a recent report detailing former Obama administration officials’ attempts to undermine the Trump administration’s negotiations with Iran.

“[This is] essentially working directly with a foreign hostile power to undermine a U.S. negotiating position. Both the President and Sec. Pompeo have been clear that they’re open to talks but they want a better deal than what we have in the Iran deal.”

According to the Daily Beast, one former official who worked on the Obama administration’s Iran policy spoke with Iranian government officials as recently as a few weeks ago, advising Iranians not to “take the bait” and pull out of the Iran deal.

“The means to drive the Iranians back to the negotiating table is economic and diplomatic isolation,” Waltz said. “When you provide a backdoor to that isolation, you are directly undermining the foreign policy of the United States and that is absolutely unacceptable.”
