Waltz Statement on El Paso, Dayton Shootings
Washington, DC,
August 4, 2019
U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz issued the following statement in response to the weekend shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio: "From organized acts of violence during the Civil Rights era to the act of cowardice carried out by Timothy McVeigh & now the maniacs who murdered dozens in El Paso and Dayton, the liberties & freedoms we enjoy as Americans have been exploited by monsters who represent neither our values nor who we are as a nation. Post 9/11, we rallied as a nation against the horrific acts of terror against the American people. These acts of domestic terror are fueled by a similar type of hate. This is a real threat. Just as we went to any corner of the earth to root out terrorism overseas, our government needs to work together to root out these terrorist cowards from their online training grounds to the basements where they gather. All terrorism — both abroad and at home — must be stopped." |
