Rep. Waltz to Attend Daytona 500 with President Trump

Daytona Beach, Fla., February 14, 2020

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) will attend the 62nd annual NASCAR Daytona 500 race in Daytona Beach with President Donald J. Trump on Sunday.

Waltz, who represents the Daytona Beach area in Congress, invited President Trump to the event personally.

“The Daytona 500 is a family-friendly, patriotic, All-American event,” Waltz said. “This year, our district is especially lucky not only to host the Daytona 500 but also to welcome our President to join in on the fun and excitement.”

The Daytona 500 is a 500-mile-long NASCAR Cup Series held at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach Florida. It is one of the most prestigious car racing events worldwide.

Trump will serve as the Grand Marshal for the Great American Race. It is the first time in history a sitting or former U.S. President has held the role. The only other time a President has attended the race was when George W. Bush attended the race in 2004.

“I’m thrilled and race fans should also be excited to welcome President Trump to Daytona this weekend,” Waltz said.
