DELEON SPRINGS, FLA. – On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) welcomed U.S. Navy Sec. Kenneth Braithwaite to Florida’s Sixth District for a visit to Sparton Corporation in DeLeon Springs. Sparton is a defense manufacturer which creates critical technology, including sonobuoys, which Naval Air Station Jacksonville uses for its anti-submarine warfare mission. “It was an honor to have Sec. Braithwaite in our district and wonderful to visit Sparton together,” Waltz said. “Sparton is a leader in manufacturing critical tools for our military and their technology, including sonobuoys, ensure our military has the finest equipment necessary, not only to complete their missions but also to keep our country safe.” Sparton is a defense manufacturer which creates critical technology, including sonobuoys, which Naval Air Station Jacksonville uses for its anti-submarine warfare mission. At 200,000 square feet, the DeLeon Springs facility is uniquely qualified to handle projects for the Defense Department, including sonobuoy systems for the U.S. Navy. For the past two years, Waltz has successfully secured funding for sonobuoys as part of the annual national defense authorization bill.
