Waltz: Bill Endangers Safety of Migrant Children While Failing to Address the Current Border Crisis

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Thursday, U.S. Congressman Mike Waltz (FL-6) released the following statement regarding his opposition to the DREAM Act in the House: “There are currently 13,700 unaccompanied minors in CBP and HHS custody who made the dangerous journey through Central America and Mexico, transported by coyotes and human traffickers to our southern border. Hundreds are continuing to arrive each day and countless have died along the treacherous path. By ignoring the current flow of unaccompanied children into our country, this legislation irresponsibly sends the wrong signal to desperate parents, encouraging them to keep risking the safety of their children,” said Waltz. “House Democrats and the Biden Administration are failing to break this dangerous cycle and making an already challenging situation at the border so much worse.” ### |
