WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Thursday, U.S. Congressman Mike Waltz (FL-6) released the following statement regarding the U.S. counterterrorism raid in Syria:

“I applaud President Biden’s order to take out ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi,” said Waltz. “For those who claim no we no longer need troops in the Middle East, we cannot conduct these types of missions without nearby bases, intelligence, special forces, and local allies.  We currently have NONE of these capabilities to address the resurgence of ISIS and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and I hope the Biden Administration takes necessary steps to address this growing threat.
