ICYMI - Rep. Mike Waltz Receives Award From National Guard Association of Florida

ST AUGUSTINE, FL - On Friday, Congressman Michael Waltz (FL-06) received the MG Ronald O. Harrison Distinguished Service Award from the National Guard Association of Florida. The Ronald O Harrison award was established in 2003 to honor MG Ronald O. Harrison, who was the Adjutant General of the Florida National Guard in 1992, and led it until he retired in 2001. The award is given to individuals who have offered exceptionally outstanding contributions to the Florida National Guard over an extended period of time.

Rep. Waltz was also joined by David Scott, a retired astronaut and Air Force colonel, who flew missions on Gemini 8, Apollo 9, and was Spacecraft Commander on Apollo 15. Mr. Scott was also promoted to honorary Brigadier General.

In accepting the award, Congressman Waltz expressed his deep appreciation:

"I am deeply honored to receive the MG Ronald O. Harrison Distinguished Service Award and to be recognized by the National Guard Association of Florida. The work that the  National Guard Association of Florida does to fight for its members is invaluable, and I am thankful to have played a part in supporting those who serve our great state and country. Having served 22 years in the National Guard and 5 years in the U.S. Army, I am immensely proud to continue advocating for those who wear the uniform and protect our freedoms."

Congressman Waltz sits on the House Armed Services Committee, and is Chairman of the Subcommittee on Readiness.
