DEBARY, FLA. – On Thursday, U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) swapped roles from elected official to diner server at DeBary Diner for the sixth episode of “Undercover Congressman.” The Undercover Congressman series gives Waltz the opportunity to learn more about his constituents by spending a day in their shoes. On Thursday, Waltz took food orders, poured hot coffee and bussed tables to live a day in the life of a DeBary Diner restaurant server. The DeBary Diner is a beloved local staple, operating in Volusia County for nearly 30 years. Waltz began going undercover at businesses in Florida’s Sixth District beginning last April. So far, he has delivered packages with UPS, served chicken sandwiches and waffle fries at Chick-fil-A, dipped ice cream for customers at Dairy Queen, hand-tossed pizza dough at Giuseppe’s Steel City Pizza and delivered mail with the USPS. Waltz plans to continue to visit more local businesses for future episodes. |
